Position Summary

The Internal Communications & Corporate Responsibility team, as part of the People and Culture Group, is looking for a creative, curious, and detail-oriented Intern to support the execution of strategies and programs that inform, and influence our inclusive workforce and positively impact our communities. The ideal candidate is a strong writer with a passion for storytelling and collaborating across departments to bring meaningful employee experiences to life. During the summer, the intern will play a key role in rolling out a modern intranet and employee app, deliver internal events, organize volunteer programs, and produce compelling content that connects and inspires our teams.

 

This role pays an hourly rate of $17.50-$20.20.

About the Ascend HBCU Internship Program 

The Ascend HBCU Internship Program is a cornerstone of OVG’s commitment to fostering diverse talent and creating pathways into the sports and live entertainment industry. Designed specifically for students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities, this immersive program offers hands-on experience, professional development, and mentorship to prepare students for impactful careers.

 

Program Highlights

  • Career Readiness Workshops: Students will participate in sessions designed to equip them with essential tools and strategies for entering the workforce with confidence.
  • Mentorship: Each intern will be paired with an OVG leader who will provide guidance, support, and insights into their career journey.
  • Capstone Project: Interns will collaborate on a project addressing real-world challenges in sports and entertainment, honing their problem-solving, teamwork, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Lunch & Learn Series: Students will engage with industry experts during company-wide sessions to gain a deeper understanding of the business.
  • Capstone Showcase: The program culminates with interns presenting their capstone projects, celebrating their achievements and demonstrating the knowledge and skills they’ve acquired.

 

This position will remain open until September 5, 2025.

Responsibilities

  • Gain hands-on experience in internal communications, content creation, and employee engagement by supporting intranet content management, including organizing, editing, uploading, and creating new content.
  • Strengthen storytelling, writing, and content strategy skills through the development of engaging content in digital, video, and written formats to support internal storytelling including holiday messages, event recaps, and corporate initiatives.
  • Build cross-functional collaboration and project management skills by working alongside teams in marketing, PR, and social to identify potential stories, develop concepts and execute across platforms.
  • Support the planning and development of internal communications campaigns.
  • Receive mentorship from experienced communications professionals and contribute to volunteer programs and internal events that positively impact both workplace culture and local communities.
  • Help manage content calendars and track communication projects.
  • Additional communications related tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled full-time at a Historically Black College or University (HBCU) at the time of the program start.
  • Rising Junior, Senior, or graduate student in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Exceptional communication skills (written & oral) with attention to detail.
  • Strong content creation skills (digital, video, short and long format writing).
  • Strong content management and project management skills.
  • Experience with Canva and Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
  • Proven ability to execute multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent time management and organization skills.
  • Graphic design and social media skills are a plus.
  • Must be able to work remotely or from Denver or New York office.
