Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic intern to join our team for the Volleyball Nations League event at NOW Arena. The Chinese Cultural Liaison Intern will play a crucial role in connecting with the local Chinese community, promoting the event, and ensuring a welcoming experience for attendees. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in community outreach, event promotion, and translation services.

 

This role will pay an hourly rate of $50.

 

This position will remain open until May 16, 2025.

 

About the Venue

NOW Arena, owned by the Village of Hoffman Estates and managed by Oak View Group (OVG), is an 11,000-seat multipurpose family entertainment, cultural, and sports arena located in Hoffman Estates, IL. NOW Arena, which opened in 2006, is designed to accommodate a variety of events including concerts, family shows, and sporting events. 

Responsibilities

  • Community Outreach: Develop and implement strategies to engage the local Chinese community and encourage attendance at the Volleyball Nations League event.
  • Translation Services: Translate event materials, promotional content, and communications from English to Mandarin to ensure accessibility for Mandarin-speaking attendees.
  • Research: Conduct research to identify the most effective channels and methods for reaching the Chinese demographic in the area.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the marketing and event management teams to align outreach efforts with overall event goals and objectives.

Qualifications

  • Must be a college junior, senior or graduate student
  • Proficiency in both English and Mandarin (written and spoken).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Interest in sports, community engagement, and event management preferred.
  • Previous experience in translation or community outreach is a plus.
